Tatra Trucks to present four firefighting special vehicles at Interschutz 2026
26.5.2026
The Interschutz 2026 trade fair, focused on fire protection and rescue technology, will take place from 1 to 6 June 2026 in Hannover. Tatra Trucks will be taking part in the event once again. In its 280 m² exhibition area, the company will display four firefighting vehicles based on Tatra Force chassis. Other firefighting special vehicles on Tatra chassis will also be presented at the Interschutz trade fair by manufacturers of firefighting and special vehicles, including the Austrian company Rosenbauer, the Polish company Bocar, and the Czech companies Kobit, THT Polička, and Excalibur Army. Tatra is a traditional supplier of chassis for firefighting vehicles and special-purpose firefighting vehicles. It supplies them in large numbers to the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, as well as to rescue services in other European countries, including Germany, Slovakia, Poland and Austria, and also to the German armed forces.
The first exhibit in Tatra’s display at this year’s Interschutz will be the Tatra Force CAS 20 4x4 forest firefighting special, designed for operations in difficult terrain and extreme conditions during wildland fires. The vehicle is built on a third-generation Tatra Force chassis with a central backbone tube and independently suspended swinging half-axles, ensuring excellent off-road capability and durability. The four-door crew cab meets the requirements of the ROPS standard and is equipped with a steel roof and a glazed emergency escape hatch. The vehicle is powered by an air-cooled Tatra T3D-928 Euro 5 eight-cylinder engine with an output of 340 kW. The firefighting superstructure has a capacity of 4,200 litres of water and 252 litres of foam concentrate, features a THT PKA 2000–400 pump and is equipped with two monitor nozzles; one is mounted on the roof of the vehicle and the other on the front bumper. The vehicle is also fitted with a reel for a 60 m high-pressure hose, self-protection spray nozzles to protect against radiant heat around the vehicle, and a hydraulic winch with a pulling force of 38 kN. Its equipment also includes a central tyre inflation system (CTIS), LED lighting, EBS and ELC brake assistance systems, a tyre pressure monitoring system and a CO₂ sensor in the cab.
The second vehicle on display will be the Tatra Force CZVS 40 8x8 armoured multi-purpose fire engine tanker. This vehicle, with steerable first, second and fourth axles, is designed for operations in extremely high-risk environments with a major risk of explosion. The crew can operate the vehicle either directly from the armoured cab or by remote control from a safe position outside the vehicle. The four-door, four-seat armoured cab provides Level 2a/b ballistic protection according to STANAG 4569. The vehicle is intended, for example, for fireground reconnaissance in extremely dangerous zones, evacuation of people from threatened areas, or operations in locations with a high risk of explosion, such as ammunition depots. Tatra Trucks, in cooperation with its partners THT Polička, Tatra Defence and RCE Systems, has already supplied this type of vehicle to the Czech Army for military firefighters. The special-purpose vehicle is powered by a Cummins ISM11 500 engine with an output of 373 kW, has a gross vehicle weight of 42 tonnes, and its superstructure includes a tank for 8,000 litres of water and 480 litres of foam concentrate.
The third vehicle on display will be the Tatra Force CAS 30 6x6 fire engine tanker; this type of vehicle has also recently entered service with the Czech Army’s military firefighters. The vehicle is built on a Tatra Force 6x6 chassis with a central backbone tube and independently suspended swinging half-axles, and also features hub reductions and differential locks. Its rear steerable axle improves manoeuvrability in demanding terrain. The cab is fitted with protective metal mesh screens on the windshield and side windows, and the crew has an integrated thermal imaging camera available for better situational awareness during operations. An electric cable winch is mounted behind the front bumper, and the vehicle is equipped with remotely controlled front and roof-mounted monitor nozzles with adjustable flow rate and spray pattern. Power is provided by an air-cooled Tatra T3D-928 Euro 5 eight-cylinder engine with an output of 325 kW, coupled to an Allison 4500 automatic transmission. The vehicle has a tank for 8,000 litres of water and 480 litres of foam concentrate, and its gross vehicle weight is 26 tonnes.
The fourth exhibit will also be a fire engine tanker based on a Tatra Force 6x6 chassis, equipped with a rear steerable axle and a superstructure from THT Polička. The vehicle is designed according to the visual and operational requirements of German fire brigades. It uses a third-generation Tatra Force cab, whose design has received the Red Dot Design Award, and places emphasis on crew safety, ergonomics and operational readiness. The cab has a 1+3 seating arrangement, and the vehicle is powered by a Cummins L9 Euro 6 engine with an output of 291 kW. The vehicle has a gross vehicle weight of 27 tonnes, reaches a maximum speed of 100 km/h, and has a fording depth of 1,200 mm. Its equipment includes a central tyre inflation system, LED lighting, EBS and ELC electronic brake assistance systems, and a Sepson hydraulic winch with a pulling force of 6 tonnes. The firefighting superstructure includes a glass-reinforced plastic tank for 8,500 litres of water, a stainless-steel tank for 510 litres of foam concentrate, and a pump with an output of 3,000 l/min, with the option of a low-pressure configuration of up to 4,000 l/min.
Interschutz is the world’s largest showcase of services, technologies and products in the fields of fire protection, rescue services, civil protection, disaster relief and safety. The history of the trade fair dates back more than 70 years, when it began as an exhibition focused mainly on firefighting technology under the name “The Red Rooster”. It has gradually developed into the world’s leading trade fair for firefighters, rescue services and civil protection, and this year it will be held under the motto “Safeguarding tomorrow”.
The trade fair’s offering covers firefighting technology, extinguishing equipment, vehicles and their equipment, technical support, measuring and detection technology, security technologies, medical and emergency equipment, as well as innovative solutions for disaster protection. It provides manufacturers, dealers and industry professionals with a comprehensive overview of the market and current technological trends. The previous edition, Interschutz 2022, welcomed more than 1,296 exhibitors from around 50 countries, who presented their products and services across more than 84,000 m² of exhibition space, and attracted 95,000 visitors. The 2026 edition is set to be even larger: more than 1,600 exhibitors from 53 countries are expected to take part, with more than 114,500 m² of exhibition space available.
