TATRA trucks in the Dakar Rally

3 January, 2012

The 34th year of a prestigious and very difficult Dakar Rally has just started, and it is the fourth time it takes place in the South American continent. This time, however, there are big changes to its route.

Fourteen stages will take all the racers from Mar del Plata, Argentina, as far as Lima, Peru.

The starting list has been changed, too. Naturally, we are most interested in the truck category where special TATRA racing trucks - the hot favorites to win this rally – are listed. On the starting list of this famous competition there are as many as four crews driving special racing trucks made by the TATRA company.

The InstaForex Team is represented by Aleš Loprais driving a special COE Jamal racing truck. The Aleš Loprais’s older COE truck is being driven by Tomáš Vrátný under the Bonver Team. The Petrobras Team is traditionally represented by André de Azevedo whose TATRA racing truck was prepared by Tomáš Tomeček’s Letka Team. The Czech Dakar Team has only one TATRA truck in the rally this year. It is a green painted racing truck driven by Martin Kolomný determined to reach the finish line as fast as possible. The fact that our Russian rival’s main stars of the truck category Čagin and Kabirov are missing due to a generation replacement is widely opening “the door” for the other participants to compete for the best awards.

We keep our fingers crossed for all the crews of TATRA trucks, and we wish them a successful arrival in Lima!
