Queen sets off for rally from Polygon test track

11 July, 2013

Aleš Loprais and his team have started their journey to the famous Silk Way Rally from the TATRA TRUCKS test track. Loprais chose the Polygon test track primarily because of a new truck in the racing fleet – the Queen 69.

This new truck is, of course, built on the TATRA chassis. The new TATRA JAMAL special racing truck is called the Queen 69 – EVO II. It is based on the T815 air suspended chassis equipped with special shock absorbers made in Aleš Loprais’s own workshop. Under the Jamal hood there is a 6-cylinder 12.8 l engine producing 920 hp; the truck can achieve an amazing speed of 180 kmph. Although the Silk Way Rally is mainly a rehearsal for the 2014 Dakar Rally, the crew – consisting of Aleš Loprais, Serge Bruynkens and Radim Pustějovský – plans to really put the Queen 69 through her paces.

Loprais’s team is also racing with their second special truck, Princess II; this is a 4x4 TATRA 815 with a crew consisting of Jan Tománek, Tomáš Kašpárek and Michael Honda. These racing trucks are supported by two 6x6 TATRA 815 assistance trucks. If you want to know more about how racing trucks Nos. 301 and 306 are doing, you can follow their progress at www.loprais.cz.

The Czech Republic also has another two irons in the fire. The Bonver Dakar Project racing team is taking part in the rally with two special 4x4 TATRA 815 racing trucks: the first one (No. 311) with a crew consisting of Artur Ardavichus, Adam Staněk and Alexey Nikizhev racing under the flag of Kazakh Astana, and the second (No. 322) with a Polish/Czech crew consisting of Robert Szustkowski, Jaroslaw Kazberuk and Filip Škrobánek.
