TATRA PHOENIX - Mining version

11 October, 2012

TATRA trucks are well-proven and reliable partners for mining. TATRA PHOENIX, a new product line, is following in the footsteps of its predecessors and building on their reputation.

A new prototype TATRA PHOENIX 8x8 for mining with 32t payload, ROPS/FOPS cab protection system produced by KOBIT, central tire inflation system (CTIS) and 18m3 tipper body produced by VS-Mont was introduced for the Australian market. Even though the truck was build as a prototype for tests of superstructures, the chassis of this version is already fully ready for serial production. For these special applications the following features are built in as a standard: hub reduction gears, MX engine brake, intarder and heated body.

The presented truck is equipped with a 340 kW, 12.9L PACCAR MX engine, an automated ZF AS-Tronic 16-speed gearbox, and a two-speed TATRA transfer case.

The chassis for this mining version can be equipped with a choice of manual or automated ZF transmissions (EcoSplit, AS-Tronic), rear 24.00 R21 and front 16.00 R20 tires, and according to customers' needs with one-speed or two-speed TATRA transfer case. The crew benefits from a spacious, ergonomic cab that can be additionally equipped with an independent heater.

Initial user tests for this specific segment show that customers can rely on a robust, durable and comfortable all-wheel-drive chassis equipped with very efficient PACCAR MX engines that can offer low fuel consumption.
