Truck company changed owners as well as its name

On March 15, 2013 TATRA, a. s. the enterprise of the TATRA, a. s. was auctioned off. The Kopřivnice-based company was purchased by TRUCK DEVELOPMENT a.s.; the new owner is based in Ostrava.
For the truck company, the change of ownership means a greater stability and a stronger position in the market.
The financial difficulties TATRA, a. s. was facing culminated in execution levied upon the company’s property. As a consequence, the court appointed an executor who decided to carry out the execution through sale of the enterprise. On March 15, 2013 the Kopřivnice truck company was purchased by Ostrava-based TRUCK DEVELOPMENT a.s. which took over the enterprise three days later, on March 18, 2013; the truck company returned to Czech hands after several years. The new owner did not win the truck company’s property only; they also took over all obligations of the TATRA, a. s. company which were not satisfied within the execution. Furthermore, TRUCK DEVELOPMENT a.s. took over the existing employees of the company along with the enterprise and entered into employment relationship with them; there were no redundancies.
The new owner brings to the truck company particularly what it had recently missed most: a stable financial background and decisive shareholders. Moreover, the management has been strengthened as well, which will lead to improvement in quality, and especially in the smooth flow of production. In other words, delivery dates agreed with customers will be met. Suppliers can expect regular payments for their supplies. For the new products, which the truck company launched during the above difficult period, this change, among others, opens new sales opportunities in new markets; the company’s position in traditional markets is likely to be strengthened as well. All in all, there are new prospects for production of TATRA trucks made in Kopřivnice.
Since the owners of TRUCK DEVELOPMENT a.s. have an interest in continuing a more than a hundred years’ tradition of making vehicles in Kopřivnice, they have recently decided to change the name of the company as well as its registered address. The world-famous and renowned TATRA brand is coming back to Kopřivnice as well as to the automobile world after a short break in the company name TATRA TRUCKS a.s. It is a promise for the future of the truck company as well as a commitment for all the ones who are involved in the production and sale of TATRA trucks in Kopřivnice.
